Our history begins at the beginning of the 20th century, when the Sobarzo family, a family of pioneers from the north of the country, arrives to the city of Puerto Natales with the promise of finding new horizons. After starting a variety of business and trying different enterprises, it was the year 1971 when the youngest son Delfus (better known as Sobita) rents an hotel known (for those years) as “Hotel Colonial”. From there, a close relationship of the family with the hoteling and tourism of the region would begin. After several years of operation, in 1983 Sobita and his family decide to emigrate to the city of Punta Arenas, where it continues to be linked to hotels and tourism, opening several hostels and residences and encouraging their children to continue with the legacy of the family . In 2000, Sobita’s eldest daughter and her mother founded “Hostal Central 2”, which in 2008 became “Hostal Cordillera”, thus beginning our history. Much effort was required for positioning our hostal as one of the best in the region.

In 2009 Hostal Cordillera was the first hostal to obtain the “Q” seal of quality, receiving the qualification of “Superior Tourist”, being this one the highest of the classification in the establishments of lodging, which means that we comply with the highest standards of quality at hostel level.

One of our goals has always been to make our guests feel like they were at home. Our idea is to feel the closeness of a Magellanic family and enjoy the beauty of the end of the world, our Chilean Patagonia. It is more than 40 years that have given us vast experience in this area.

We proudly believe that Hostal Cordillera is an example of perseverance and leading in terms of practices and procedures in international tourism, and we are always in a constant search to make you feel: “The warmth of a home in our beautiful Patagonia at end of the world”
